Audience Feedback, Losing The Rough Cut And A New Direction!

Rough cut analysis and audience feedback!

After showing our rough cut, we gained some audience feedback that told us our style could be improved by using different shots than we have not already used. The feedback also said that we had used a lot of mid-shots and long-shots, and although this was okay because our film was full of action, we needed to create a broader range of shots by adding more in. Also a suggestion that came up was making more mystery rather than just runing and getting shot.

Losing The Rough Cut!

Due to technical problems we lost the edited version of the rough cut after the computer didn’t save the file properly. However before the version was lost we was able to show people to gain some feedback and as a whole me and the group decided that we needed to go back and re-film certain parts of the film and even change some of our ideas that was used, as they didn’t give the effect that we was looking for.

When we told everyone about the refilming we all decided it was best to film on the Friday morning again as everyone is free on that day and that short period. However when it came to the day, Lee our main person had injured his foot through football. This then meant that we would have to refilm everything as he wasn’t going to be healed in time for this project. Therefore we then decided that through the rough-cut the beginning and the end were the worst parts because they didn’t look effective and real.

So after getting a new volunteer just through asking Ryan Bradley, we decided to keep with the same idea that we had but just change some of the scenes which was mainly the begining and end. Through this we decided to have no speech in the film and just have the sound track running through the whole clip. Through the improvisation we also chose a new location which was still in Werrington and was just around the corner from where we was filming before. As Ryan was only available for just over an hour and a half we didn’t have a lot of time. The whole genre and storyline had all been kept the same, but this time the start was going to be showing Ryan hiding behind a wall and then being chased until he is in a dead end and is then shot.

With the props and costumes, Kiel and Adam were dressed smartly as which was planned before and Ryan was in casual top with grey trousers and plimpsols. This was good as it made a separation between the two clear. Kiel had the fake gun and Ryan had a bag on him which we were able to use. To fit in with out new idea we are keeping the same angles from our latest storyboard, but we made another shot list for filming tomorrow. The shot list revolves around fitting all of the opening credits in, while building suspense; therefore the appropriate credits are placed in-between certain shots, as you can see:
